2008 Best Entertainment Venue River Rock Casino

When you’re driving on Highway 101 near Geyserville, it’s pretty hard to miss River Rock Casino perched on the hills above Alexander Valley. And if you haven’t been there yet, well, why not? Aren’t you even just a little bit curious about what’s inside—especially now that NorthBay biz readers voted it Best Entertainment Venue?

One thing’s for sure: it’s an incredibly comprehensive entertainment venue. And with its new plans for expansion, things can only grow from here. “We plan on starting construction as soon as possible,” says Dave Hyams, spokesperson for the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians, which owns and operates the casino.

“The plan is to build it in two phases, with lodging, fine dining, meeting rooms, a wine tasting area, pool area, wedding chapel and more,” he says. The casino will remain open during construction, so don’t worry about a break in the action.

Speaking of action, River Rock Casino offers a wide assortment of slot and video gaming machines, as well as card games such as mini-baccarat, poker (including pai gow) and blackjack. It also has live entertainment nightly, special events and giveaways (there’s still time to win an Audi with cash in the trunk), a Native American cultural arts collection (featuring the intricate basketry the Pomo tribe is known for), fine dining (including daily buffets) and—don’t forget—spectacular views of the Alexander Valley.

Events during the week include “Guys Night Out” on Mondays, “Seniors Day” on Tuesdays, “Locals Night” on Wednesdays and “Ladies Night” on Thursdays. There are also non-smoking gaming rooms for those who prefer to play in a smoke-free environment.

Feeling lucky? Head on up and try your hand.
