“Every time you walk through here you see something new.” —Heike Pacchetti
The Kenwood Inn and Spa is a slice of Italy in the heart of Sonoma County. “When you visit, you’re transformed,” says General Manager Heike Pacchetti, who’s originally from Germany and has been with the property for three years. “You really get away from it all. There are no TVs or computers in the guest rooms, so you can reconnect with whomever you’re with,” she says.
It’s true. The small, peaceful property has an incredibly relaxed atmosphere that really does feel like a small Italian village. It’s so well appointed that guests often feel their needs have been met even before they know they have them. “Our employees are service experts. They’re friendly and they know when to be there—or not,” says Pacchetti.
The inn boasts 29 secluded rooms and suites, ranging from 450 to 750 square feet, all of which have private entrances, a featherbed, luxury linens (including plush robes and slippers), a sitting area, a fireplace and more. There are three beautifully landscaped courtyards, several fountains, a koi pond and two outdoor heated saline pools. “Every time you walk through here you see something new,” says Pacchetti.
The pools and tubs are available to guests 24 hours per day, so they can enjoy them whenever the mood strikes. The serene and secluded property only accommodates guests ages 18 and older, and doesn’t allow pets, so everyone is assured of a relaxing, rejuvenating experience.
Each morning, guests can enjoy a complimentary breakfast with coffee, espresso or tea and fresh fruit, squeezed juices, prepared-to-order hot breakfast items and baked pastries. The onsite restaurant is for guests only and serves lunch and dinner daily. Terrace dining is available during warmer months. Executive Chef Steven Snook incorporates ingredients from the inn’s garden vegetables and fruits into his seasonal menus of Italian-inspired cuisine. There’s also a wine bar, overseen by Wine Director Ann Davis, featuring a carefully chosen selection of local boutique wines (including its sister winery, HKG Estate Wines). A 700-square-foot, leisurely meeting space is also available, and the property is popular for weddings of up to 100 guests.
The beautifully appointed, onsite spa is open to the public and offers vinotherapy wraps and scrubs, facial treatments, therapeutic massage and other body treatments. “The wine-infused [vinotherapy] treatments are a big hit,” says Pacchetti, who also recommends the Kenwood Signature experience (massage and facial) as well as the wine bath with sugar scrub and a honey wine wrap.
“What sets this place apart is the unique experience it offers and the guest service,” says Pacchetti. “The people make the magic. Thank you to those of you who voted for your loyalty and support. It comes very much appreciated.”
