Planning an event outside during Northern California’s beautiful spring, summer and fall weather is a popular choice. However, one thing that seems to get overlooked is if there are adequate restroom accommodations. Here are five tips for making sure everyone has their needs met with a luxury restroom trailer.
1. Schedule your rental in advance. Restroom trailers are rare. Even the largest companies have only a handful. If you’re renting during the busy season of April through September, order yours several months in advance.
2. Make sure your location can accommodate a restroom trailer. Restroom trailers are as large as an RV, so trim tree branches and bushes from the start of the driveway to where the trailer is to be dropped off. Rental agencies have a zero tolerance for scratches to their trailers and may charge you extra or decide not to deliver your trailer at all if they can’t reach the destination easily.
3. Expect to pay a significantly more for restroom trailers than for a portable potty. The price range for a typical, two-stall VIP/restroom trailer is $600 to $3,000 from most companies who serve Sonoma, Napa and Marin counties. The cheapest, most basic from most companies is the VIP, the mid-range would be double-stall luxury trailers and the top of the line are executive suites, which have wow factors such as built in TVs, music, ornate décor and such.
4. Plan out how many people will attend the event and know if any have special bathroom needs. A restroom trailer can only accommodate so many people, which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Most restroom trailers don’t accommodate people in wheelchairs, so you’ll need to ask for one that does specifically—and expect to pay a higher price. Another option is to rent a handicapped-accessible portable potty specifically for these guests.
5. Make sure you have the proper hookups for the trailer you ordered. Some trailers require a power source to operate properly, typically a standard, 15amp 120v house outlet. You may choose to supply a generator or rent one to meet this need. Before you rent, ask what’s required for your location. This way, your trailer and event will go off without a hitch.
