"We will continue to adapt to the economy and use our current resources to expand our business in the future." —Dick Ghilotti
Family owned and operated since 1914, Ghilotti Construction Company (GCC) has more than a century of engineering experience and a family tradition of hard work and dependability under its tool belt. The Santa Rosa-based company specializes in total site preparation, including grading and excavating, paving, storm drains, water and sewer lines, equipment rental, soil stabilization, site and structure concrete and underground work.
If you travel throughout the Bay Area with any frequency, you’ve likely encountered the company’s efforts. Recent North Bay projects have included the widening of Highway 101 in Petaluma and an overcrossing at Old Redwood Highway, the Dino Ghilotti Motta and Nancy Motta Ghilotti Visual Arts Center at San Domenico and Dino Ghilotti Motta Stadium and Field House Complex at Marin Catholic High School, as well as contributions to Graton Rancheria Casino in Rohnert Park and Sutter Hospital in Santa Rosa, among many others. Further afield, Ghilotti also had a hand in the Broadway interchange replacement project in Burlingame and Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Clearly, it’s a busy time in the construction industry—a welcome change from the dearth of projects a few years ago. “From 2015 to now, the economy of Sonoma County for private and public work is back to how it was before the recession hit in 2008,” confirms Dick Ghilotti, president and owner.
During the recession, GCC survived by “exploring other opportunities and expanding operations into other counties that had more construction and development work than where we were currently doing business. We also opened offices in Livermore and Sunnyvale.”
As a result of this proactive effort, “We have a large footprint in the greater Bay Area, and there will be plenty to keep our employees and equipment busy in the 12 counties in which we work—in both the private and public sectors of our business. We will continue to adapt to the economy and use our current resources to expand our business in the future.”
Despite the expansion, GCC is dedicated to the North Bay, and being voted Best by NorthBay biz readers confirms what company leaders have known all along: “Ghilotti Construction is the best because we have a hardworking, dedicated, dependable and passionate team of senior managers, project managers, estimators, accountants, financial experts, superintendents, foremen and union employees,” says Ghilotti. “Thanks to all of the NorthBay Biz readers who voted for the Ghilotti Construction team and recognizing our efforts in reshaping Northern California.”
