“We attribute our success to the quality of our legal services, our excellent staff and our care for our community.”—Dan Galvin, partner
Shapiro, Galvin, Shapiro & Moran is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year as well as their 4th win, including one gold medal for Best Law Firm in NorthBay biz’s Best Of readers poll.
Everett Shapiro started the firm in 1968, originally located in the Empire Building of downtown Santa Rosa. In 1979, Dan Galvin joined as partner. In 1982, Everett Shapiro’s son Tad Shapiro joined, and later, Adrienne Moran joined the firm in 1988. A collection of personal injury, employment, construction, estate planning and general business attorneys, the firm has hundreds of active cases as well as a special bond with their community.
“We’re humbled and appreciative of the award,” says Dan Galvin. “We attribute our success to the quality of our legal services, our excellent staff and our care for our community.” And it’s no wonder why their firm is voted the best. The attorneys are both proficient and community driven, assuring an overall positive experience from start to finish. “We’re approachable, we care about our clients and we give back to our community,” says Galvin. In many cases, clients don’t want to find themselves in an attorney’s office. It can oftentimes be costly and stressful. But, what Galvin describes as the highlight to the job, is the opportunity to be an advocate for a client in need. “Helping clients through difficult times and situations, as they’re usually in an adversarial situation, makes the job rewarding.”
The attorneys at Shapiro, Galvin, Shapiro and Moran have remained active and involved in community programs and foundations such as Active 20-30, the Sonoma County Bar Association, Sonoma County Legal Aid and Redwood Empire Food Bank. Tad Shapiro recently became active on the Advisory Committee at Hastings Law School in San Francisco. Galvin is actively involved as chairman of the City of Santa Rosa’s Board of Public Utilities. He’s also a board member for the North Coast Builders Exchange and the Catholic Community Foundation. Moran is a past president of the Sonoma County Bar Association.
Attorney Adrienne Moran recently lost her Wikiup home in the October fires, and is in the process of rebuilding. The firm is actively representing homeowners and business owners throughout the North Bay, who were impacted by the fires.
For those who plan on a career in law, just know, it’s not an easy process. “Law school is difficult,” says Galvin. “You have to find an area you’re interested in. And to pass the Bar, you must be proficient in all areas at least for the three days of the exam.”
As for the firm’s future, they’re committed to providing the highest-quality legal services to their clients.
