“Our mindset is that we bring more West to business. It’s a business approach that values being optimistic and entrepreneurial, and building real relationships with our clients. Tell us where you want to go, and we’ll work to get you there.” – Mike Ricioli, North Bay partner in charge.
Age brings wisdom, and a firm with a 106-year history is no exception. Today, Moss Adams offers a wide range of knowledge in accounting, tax, finance and business operations issues for companies in all phases of development, from startup, to rapid growth and expansion, to transition. Because the firm’s practices are organized by industry, clients are assured that the firm’s professionals can speak directly to their unique business trends, opportunities and challenges.
“Moss Adams is a fully integrated professional services firm dedicated to growing, managing and protecting prosperity,” says Mike Ricioli, North Bay partner in charge. “With over 3,200 professionals across more than 25 locations in the market capitals of the west and beyond, we work with the world’s most innovative, dynamic, and promising clients and markets. Through a full spectrum of accounting, consulting, and wealth management services, we bring the deep industry specialization and inspired thinking our mid-market clients seek.”
Moss Adams is not unaccustomed to winning awards. Besides winning “Best Accounting Firm” from NorthBay biz readers for many years, other recent awards include being recognized for eight years among the “100 Best Companies” by Working Mother Magazine for the programs, benefits and career support women and working mothers at the firm receive. They were also named a NAFE (National Association of Female Executives) “Top Company for Executive Women” for five years, and were ranked ninth overall among accounting firms by the Vault.com “Accounting 50 survey.”
“I believe we won this award because we’re different than a typical accounting firm,” says Ricioli. In 2017, the firm launched a rebrand “West”—not as a location, but as a state of mind, which helps them look at the whole picture and serve as collaborative advisors who have a thorough understanding of their clients’ industries. This brand is more closely aligned with their goal of helping clients achieve prosperity however they define it.
In addition, the firm is always looking for new ways to innovate and evolve. “We look ahead; not back. Our mindset is that we bring more West to business. It’s a business approach that values being optimistic and entrepreneurial, and building real relationships with our clients. Tell us where you want to go, and we’ll work to get you there.”
As much as they value their clients, Moss Adams values its staff. In 2017 and 2019, Forbes recognized Moss Adams as one of “America’s Best Midsize Employers.” Every year Forbes compiles a list of the top 800 employers in the country that excel at making their employees feel happy, inspired and well compensated. Part of this philosophy includes Moss Adams’ program for women called: Forum W; which accelerates the firm’s success in attracting, developing and retaining advanced and talented women. For seven consecutive years, the Accounting MOVE Project recognized Moss Adams for its efforts to attract, develop, retain and advance women, as well as for its commitment to building programs that help nurture talent.
“We’re continuously making significant investments in resources and tools enabling our clients to unlock the power of data and information across their enterprise,” says Ricioli. “Whether through increasing use of BI software, machine learning, collaboration tools, etcetera, we continue to modernize our approach.”
