Vintners Inn originally opened in 1984 as a charming, 44-room inn on 42 acres of vineyards in the Russian River Valley. It soon evolved to be the quintessential wine country experience, and a reason people come from all over the world to visit a beautiful space surrounded by vineyards that boast excellent, locally sourced Wine Country cuisine paired with magnificent wines.

“In 1987, renowned Chef John Ash partnered with Vintners Inn owners John and Francesca Duffy to bring John Ash & Co. restaurant from another site in Santa Rosa to the property at Vintners Inn,” says Percy Brandon, general manager. “Chef John Ash is not only a chef who is considered the father of Wine Country cuisine, but he’s also a food and wine educator who’s written four cookbooks (two of which have won James Beard awards) and travels the world teaching cooking classes to both home cooks and professionals. Following the Chef’s tradition, to this day the culinary team at John Ash & Co. takes pride in using only the freshest, sustainable ingredients from the property’s gardens and local farmers for all of Vintners Inn’s dining and event venues.”

In 2000, Don and Rhonda Carano of Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery purchased the property along with additional adjacent vineyards. They opened a 10,000-square-foot Vintners Inn Event Center in 2006, which features walls of windows opening to beautiful gardens, high ceilings, stonewall features and lush outdoor spaces alongside meeting rooms. A wedding pavilion next to vineyards on the property was added to complement the site. More than 500 events were held in various event spaces around the property in 2007; both at the event center as well as the group dining areas of John Ash & Co., and many more since then.

In 2013, John Ash & Co. off-site catering was established to bring the well-known quality of John Ash & Co. cuisine and service to venues throughout Sonoma County. The catering division now holds more than 1,000 events each year, both on- and off-site.

In 2018, an additional 34 rooms and suites were completed, bringing the total number of rooms at Vintners Inn to 78 and allowing the inn to accommodate larger groups and businesses. Vi La Vita Spa opened shortly thereafter and features an indoor and outdoor plunge pool, five treatment rooms, steam saunas, a wellness relaxation lounge, a boutique and a fitness center. Vintners Inn guests, couples, locals and groups may enjoy spa treatments including massages, facials, polishes and scrubs.

“Not only can we to accommodate companies and corporations large and small for their meeting venue and overnight stay needs, but we also accommodate groups and parties for other special occasions, like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and more,” says Brandon.
