Adrienne Silver

As a child, Adrienne Silver, M.D. decided to work in the medical field early on. Her father, who had his own practice and specialized in obstetrics and gynecology, inspired her. “He’d get a call that a patient was in labor. He had a siren and light that he could put on his car, and I used to think it was the coolest,” she says. While in medical school, Silver turned her attention toward pediatrics, and today she serves as the director of medical education at Kaiser’s Santa Rosa campus, overseeing the hospital’s family medicine residency and medical student programs, among other responsibilities. A Colorado native, Silver graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder and has lived in the North Bay with her husband of 27 years, Bill, for 11 years. The couple has three sons, Benji, Zach and Ari, aged 20, 17 and 14. In her free time, Silver enjoys hiking, cooking, watching football and working out. The ability to multi-task is among Silver’s best qualities, along with her adeptness in being empathetic to her patients’ fears and worries. Silver relishes her opportunity to impact so many lives—not only as a pediatrician but as an educator, as well.

The Denver Broncos. I grew up in Denver and have been a Bronco fan all my life. Definitely enjoying the 49ers this year. (Its been tough being a fan the last few years!)

Back to back Super Bowl titles after a looong drought!

What’s your favorite place to go out and eat?

Huge fan of Bollywood. Love Campo Fina and Willi’s Seafood in Healdsburg.

What is your favorite place to hike in either the Bay Area or the Colorado?

Annadel—I can walk there from my house and get lost with the deer and turkeys.

Last of the Mohicans, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Devil Wears Prada, Mama Mia.

What food do you eat if you want to indulge?

Italian—Pizza, pasta and cannolis!

What’s something, if anything, that you regret losing, selling or giving away?

When we moved here from Colorado, we gave up having a basement and had to give a lot of stuff away. I’ve wished I had a lot of the stuff back. California needs basements!

Of all the tools and gadgets you own, which one do you most enjoy using?

My iPad and wrap around back massager. (One of those unplanned Costco finds!)

How often do you listen to music and what genres do you like the most?

I listen to music all the time—when I’m driving, working out, and hiking. I have more than 15,000 songs on iTunes. I love singer-songwriters, alternative and reggae.

What’s the funniest thing you’ve seen a kid do?

I have posters on my exam room wall with healthy foods and not-so-healthy foods. I crack up every time I ask a kid to show me healthy foods and they point to the doughnuts.

What’s your favorite season of the year and why?

Fall—I love the colors and bringing out the hoodies.
