The fallout from Dominic Foppoli’s sexual assault allegations are swift and far-reaching. Foppoli’s behavior has had a deleterious impact both in the personal and professional realms as local businesses and organizations move to sever ties with Foppoli, who announced in a statement today that he was “stepping back from an active role as Mayor” of Windsor.
In a Facebook post published April 10, Dustin Valette, chef and co-owner of Valette in Healdsburg announced the restaurant would no longer sell Christopher Creek wine.
In the post, Valette wrote, “I am aware of the disturbing allegations which have recently come to light involving Dominic Foppoli. I strongly condemn the behavior as it is not consistent with my values or the values of our great community. I fully support and suggest his resignation as the Mayor of Windsor. My thoughts are with the brave women who spoke up. I can confirm that we no longer carry the Christopher Creek wine brand, nor I am [sic] working in any way with Mr. Foppoli or have any plans to do so in the future.”
The restaurant joins a growing list of local professionals and organizations distancing themselves from Foppoli. Christopher Creek Winery recently announced that Foppoli is no longer the CEO and will have no ownership stake in the company going forward. Foppoli’s membership in the Russian River Valley Winegrowers was also recently terminated. The group released a statement saying, “We expect our members to act with integrity and respect and will not tolerate less.”
Sonoma County Vintners recently moved to suspend Christopher Creek Winery from all programs and activities. The suspension includes the removal of Christopher Creek Wine in the 2021 Sonoma County Barrel Auction.
