Residents of the Occidental and Camp Meeker areas will take part in a coordinated evacuation drill on Saturday, June 19, involving the County of Sonoma, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Sebastopol, community groups and fire agencies. The exercise is part of a community-wide effort to prepare for wildfires and other potential disasters.

This exercise will provide public safety departments an opportunity to practice alerting an area using the Hi-Lo sirens and to further test the County’s alerting system. Residents will have the opportunity to review the process of evacuating their homes and leaving their neighborhoods.
Schedule of events:

● 9 a.m.: Exercise begins. Registered participants will receive a SoCo Alert notification on their phones prompting them to evacuate to the exercise meeting point, Sebastopol Center for the Arts, 282 South High St., Sebastopol. Hi-Lo sirens will be activated by Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputies and other public safety partners to alert participants that the exercise has begun.
● Participants are welcome to attend an emergency preparedness resource fair at Ives Park, adjacent to the Center for the Arts, as they arrive. The resource fair will close at 11 a.m.
● 10:15 a.m.: Remarks from command team and leadership at Sebastopol Center for the Arts.
