Creative Sonoma announced that grants are available for nonprofit cultural arts organizations producing activities that occur before Dec. 30, 2022. The County Board of Supervisors approved $125,000 to fund these grants to support the cultivation of a vibrant community and economy through the arts to serve local residents and visitors.

Grants are available to support cultural arts activities across Sonoma County that will occur between Jan. 1, 2022 and Dec. 31, 2022. Nonprofit organizations, including museums and culturally specific organizations, that produce arts and culture programs, services and events are eligible to apply. The application portal opens on Oct. 28, 2021 and the deadline for applications is Dec. 2, 2021.

“The innovative spirit of our cultural arts nonprofit organizations has been on full display over these past two years, finding alternative ways to enliven our communities without gathering together,” said Supervisor Lynda Hopkins, Chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. “These grants are an investment in that work to help to bring meaningful creative experiences to all of our residents.”

Grants will fund cultural arts activities that contribute to the social cohesion of our communities countywide, in neighborhoods, or with student populations. Given the urgency of Sonoma County’s climate change challenges, applications for projects that also advance the community’s awareness and understanding of environmental sustainability are encouraged. Successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to providing equitable access to and participation from communities of color and other traditionally marginalized communities.
