Sonoma Community Center will offer a unique, interactive workshop on botanical monotype printmaking at Jack London State Historic Park on Sunday, May 21, 2022.
Inspired by the surroundings of the beautiful park habitat, participants will learn to make stunning gel monotypes without the use of a traditional printing press, using water-based materials and real plants from the instructor’s garden as stencils.
“You will walk away with a collection of your very own prints to take home and enjoy. This is sure to be a fun and awe-inspiring class for beginners or even experienced printmakers interested in learning a popular new technique,” said workshop leader Kelly Autumn.
Autumn is a Northern California-based multi-disciplinary artist originally from Santa Rosa. She received her BA in Fashion & Textiles Design from San Francisco State University and spent the last two decades living and working as a creative within the Bay Area. In 2019, Autumn received certification in the field of Printmaking Arts from Diablo Valley College and served as a teaching assistant to her mentor Toru Sugita, Professor of Printmaking & Chair of the Diablo Valley College Art Department. In 2020, she completed a pop-up printmaking residency at the Sonoma Community Center. She is a member of the California Society of Printmakers and the Oakland Arts Association. She lives and works in Oakland, California.
The program, open to adults and teens, begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $100 per person, plus a $20 fee for materials, and do not include the parking fee (regularly $10 per car for up to nine passengers).
