County of Sonoma leaders and officials with the Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport will be joined by Rep. Mike Thompson, D-St. Helena, and Rep. Jared Huffman, D-San Rafael, at 9 a.m. on April 13 for a special ‘Topping Off’ ceremony to finalize the structural framework of the airport’s Terminal Modernization Project.
“After two years of construction, this event is an important commemoration of the hard work by the design and construction teams, as well as our elected officials who helped identify and secure the funding to make it happen,” said District 4 Supervisor James Gore, Chair of the Board of Supervisors. “The airport is a key contributor to our local economy, and we can be proud of the progress here today.”
The traditional “Builder’s Rite” construction trade celebration marks the placement of the final steel beam that makes up the framing of the Terminal Modernization Project. Stakeholders from the government, Sonoma County airport, and project managers from Q&D Construction, C&S Companies and Mead & Hunt will be encouraged to sign the ceremonial beam prior to watching it be installed and touring the new facility.
