A brand new LGBTQI Pride Festival will take place on the Windsor Town Green on Saturday, June 25, 2022. The inaugural event runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature a full day packed with entertainment, food and drink, entertainment, and community resources for kids and adults. Admission is free and is open to all members of the community and visiting guests. More information is available at LoveWinsInWindsor.com.
The Windsor Pride Festival will kick off the day with a ceremony that will honor two Grand Marshalls for the event. Lorene Romero, an openly gay Windsor Resident since 1994 is the Grand Marshall. The Junior Grand Marshall is Dina Nofi, a 7-year-old from Windsor who knew from an early age that although she was born male, she wanted to be a female. Her courageous decision is supported by her family and they will be present for this proud moment.
“Over the past few years, I’ve witnessed how love wins in Windsor,” said organizer Spencer Blank. “We want to show Sonoma County, and most importantly our youth, what an inclusive community we are.”
Attendees to the Windsor Pride Festival will enjoy live musical performances by Wonderbread 5, The Purple Ones, Santa Rosa’s School of Rock, Sacramento-based DJ LadyChar, and local singer and songwriter, Jeremy Lipsin. A Pride-themed street fair will feature local food, beverages, Windsor Pride merchandise, and collectibles. Community resources will be ready to offer support from organizations like Face to Face, Positive Images, and LGBTQ Connections. Kids will explore and discover fun, colorful surprises in the “Kid Zone” as they also learn how to be more inclusive with their peers and elders.
Sonoma County is home to one of the highest per capita populations of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) persons in the country, and is made up of all ages, races, gender, and sexual identities who both live here year-round or visit regularly from San Francisco and beyond.
Proceeds raised from the Windsor Pride Event will benefit the People for Parks Foundation and local LGBTQ non-profits.
