Mary’s Pizza Shack announced last week that the company has permanently closed its Dixon, Napa and Novato locations. The Italian eatery now operates nine locations across Sonoma and Solano counties.

The restaurant once held 20 locations across the North Bay, with the majority in Sonoma County.

The company announced the closures in a Facebook post, along with a succession plan to shift operations from single company overseeing the business to “direct owner-operator ownership of each location.”

The post also cited that “unchanging realities of increased food and labor costs mixed with other compounding issues facing our industry led to this difficult decision,” and prompted the exclusion of these three locations in the succession plan.

Mary Fazio opened the original restaurant in 1959 in Boyes Hot Springs. According to the company’s website, Mary’s makes everything from scratch each day, using Mary’s original recipes.
