Sonoma County Approves $7.14 million in Grants for Community Development Projects

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors approved $7.14 million in grants for affordable housing, public facilities improvements, rental assistance, emergency shelter operations, fair housing services, homelessness prevention, case management and financial stability for low-income residents.

The funding mostly comes from federal Community Development Block Grants, as well as the federal HOME Investment Partnerships Program and federal Emergency Solutions Grants.

The funding will go to community-based organizations, affordable housing developers, and county and city agencies to support various projects related to housing affordability, homeless outreach and referral, a new service navigation center in west county, microenterprise assistance to expand affordable childcare, accessibility improvements and legal assistance to prevent homelessness.
