With 373 thousand trees planted and more to go, Amour Vert has managed to replenish 12 billion gallons of water.
Santa Rosa, get ready to go green with a new sustainable clothing boutique, Amour Vert, opening in Montgomery Village shopping center. The San Francisco-based brand was created in 2010 by a husband-and-wife duo, Christoph Frehsee and Linda Balti. They wanted to create an eco-friendly brand that allows consumers to prioritize sustainability.
Amour Vert, which means “green love” in French, takes inspiration from the sophistication of European fashion and combines it with a more Californian style. Balti describes the fashion line as Parisian chic meets California cool.
In order to reflect their eco-friendly values Amour Vert sources materials from a “sustainably managed forest in Austria,” as Frehsee and Balti told treehugger.com. This includes organic cotton and modal, which is a wood-based fiber. They also minimize waste as much as they can by using biodegradable shipping materials and always using non-toxic color for clothing.
According to amourvert.com, one of the company’s primary sustainability initiatives is called “Buy a Tee, Plant a Tree,” and every time a customer purchases one of the T-shirts offered through the program, Amour Vert plants a tree in North America. They have currently planted over 373,000 trees—the equivalent of roughly 1,763 acres of forest.
The brand aims to create staple pieces that can appeal to a broad array of customers. The shop set to open in Santa Rosa will be the brand’s fifth location. They currently have stores in San Francisco, San Jose, Berkeley and Palo Alto.
