Marizco Landscape Management has been voted Best Green Business in the 2011 NorthBay biz readers poll.
Aside from being voted Best Green Business by NorthBay biz readers the second year in a row, Marizco was recently awarded a five-year landscape maintenance contract with Airport Business Center in Santa Rosa. Owner Pierre R. Marizco says, “What’s exciting is, we’ve created a maintenance program, tailored for the site, that will help us with shifting to a new generation of landscape designs and maintenance programs that’s both sustainable and beautiful.”
Careful planning and meticulous maintenance will equal success for the Airport Business Center project. It involves many goals, such as water use for reducing irrigation to meet and exceed California’s mandate of 60 percent and completely eliminating shearing of plant materials by hard pruning or removing the shrubs altogether. Marizco says, “This reduces the overall maintenance costs and increased disposal.” All shrubs will be pruned by hand, without the use of machinery, which helps reduce emissions and reduces Marizco Landscape Managements need for oil. As it continues to enhance the property, it will be replacing high-maintenance and high-water-use plants with plant materials that require less maintenance and substantially less water. Last, the Airport Business Center will convert from a maintenance program using synthetic pesticides and fertilizers to a more natural and organic program. It’s an issue Marizco is passionate about: completely eliminating harmful chemicals found in fertilizers and pesticides from leaching into ponds, creeks, streams, rivers and the Bay. Marizco says, “This will create and build a healthy ecosystem within the park and surrounding areas.”
This is a landscaping company that actually cares about what it does, where it works and with whom. Combine that with an environmentalist attitude from all its employees, great customer service and a willingness to help and educate customers.
Marizco says, “What sets Marizco Landscape apart from others is the caliber of our people. Our management staff takes a personal interest in the landscapes they manage. They also play an active role in educating our customers by introducing solutions that keep the best interest of our environment in mind. Through our rigorous training programs on water conservation, and through our learning and teaching of the programs and principles established by Bay-Friendly and Russian River-Friendly guidelines, we’re able to influence many acres of landscaped ecosystems throughout the North Bay.”
Marizco adds, “I’m extremely proud of our company’s accomplishments and accolades and am once again, honored and grateful to be voted Best Green Business.”
