Vegas in the North Bay
Wine Country is about to receive a big-city asset, when the Graton Resort & Casino in Rohnert Park opens its hotel expansion this month. Financed by three years of casino profits, the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria will connect the Las Vegas-style gambling destination with accommodations to match.
The $175 million project includes 342,000 square feet of additional buildings, complete with 184 standard guest rooms, 16 suites, an exercise room, a spa and the largest convention room to-date in the North Bay. The tribe expects the convention room to host live music, conferences and other local events. The resort is scheduled to open November 15.
New in Napa
Among the valley properties to undergo renovations this year is Marriott Napa Valley Resort & Spa, which unveiled a new resort-style pool and courtyard just in time for summer (and beyond). Planned poolside activities include weddings, yoga, movies, wine and cocktail receptions, private and corporate parties. The new courtyard is designed with clever landscaping to create unique “rooms.” All 275 guestrooms have been renovated with relaxation in mind, whether you’re seeking state-of-the-arts entertainment or peace and tranquility. The onsite Preserve Spa, Salon and Gardens features all the expected services as well as locally sourced spa products and gifts.
Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga recently completed a major resurfacing project on its Olympic-sized pool, fed by thermal geysers to maintain a comfortable water temperature. The updated surfaces, color scheme, awnings and furnishings transforms the pool area into a welcoming and comfortable destination. A new snack shack adds the convenience of grab-and-go noshes from Sam’s Social Club restaurant (located on resort grounds). The spa lobby and locker rooms have also been updated, and new spa treatments have been added.
Coastal Getaway
Timber Cove Lodge in Jenner reopened earlier this year after an extensive renovation that creates a
contemporary experience that still evokes the historic hotel’s 1960s architecture and soul. Eight suites were added (for a total 46 guest rooms) and the banquet and event space can accommodate everything from a small, private wedding and reception to a full-scale resort corporate retreat. Executive chef Phillip Kaufman now oversees the Coast Kitchen restaurant and has designed a menu of seasonal cuisine with locally sourced ingredients.
Curated activities include wine tastings, guided hikes, fireside music, wellness experiences and seasonal dining menus. Other onsite recreation includes archery, billiards, yoga, meditation, stand-up paddleboards, local beach access and more. Located high above the Pacific coastline on a stunning 25-acre property with proximity to many wineries as well as points of interest along the coast, it may be time for a revisit.
