Family owned and operated since 1914, Ghilotti Construction Company has over 100 years of engineering experience and a family tradition of hard work and dependability. The story of Ghilotti Construction Company is the story of the American Dream. A stone mason by trade, founding family member, James Ghilotti, left his native Italy to come seeking his fortune in California. Transporting stones all over the north bay by horse and cart, his back-breaking hard work and business philosophy paid off as his company grew from small paving jobs to building bridges and highways. Now, the company has more than 450 employees contributing to its success, and reported more than $200 million in revenue in June 2018. James Ghilotti’s original business philosophy is kept alive and well by the entire organization: Do good work. Be responsible. Take care of the community and the people who work for you.
After the wildfires of 2017, Ghilotti’s philosophy was on full display. The company raised $200,000 from friends and supporters after 10 of its employees lost their home. Ghilotti also contributed $150,000 to the North Bay Fire Relief Fund and set up lodging in a warehouse for National Guardsman that arrived to aid recovery. Ghilotti also helped cleanup efforts, with its crews working 12-hour days, seven days a week at times. To get the job done, Ghilotti maintains a fleet of more than 100 on-road vehicles and 135 pieces of off-road heavy equipment. Asphalt Grinders, bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, forklifts and loaders are all operated expertly by Ghilotti’s employees.
