“Windsor Golf Club is open to all, we welcome everyone seeking the best in wine country golf. We consider ourselves the leader in public 18-hole golf options in the North Bay and we look to continue improving our customers experience in the future.”

Offering a Par 72 championship course that has played host to several PGA Nike and Symetra Tour events, the public Windsor Golf Club boasts a course with “a unique cachet that lets golfers follow in the footsteps of the pros.” Windsor Golf Course is this year’s winner for Best Golf Course in NorthBay Biz magazine’s annual readers’ poll.

NorthBay Biz spoke with Demian Reddy, a PGA Class A Professional who serves marketing coordinator at the club to find out what sets Windsor Golf Club apart as the best golf club in Sonoma County.

According to Reddy, there are a few different standards by which to compare golf courses, including services, layout and design and amenities. He says Windsor Golf Club offers a strong practice facility with one of the few all-grass driving ranges in the area and that “course conditions are consistent and another industry leader in the area.

Windsor Golf Club is also more accessible as a public course anyone can pay to play for the day, says Reddy. The club considers itself competitive with both public and private golf courses in the area, spanning Marin, Sonoma and Napa counties.

“Windsor Golf Club is open to all, we welcome everyone seeking the best in wine country golf. We consider ourselves the leader in public 18-hole golf options in the North Bay and we look to continue improving our customers experience in the future.”

Windsor Golf Club maintains competitive rates and the course is undivided by housing developments, unlike many other golf courses.

Windsor Golf Club offers several notable leagues, including the Sunset League, the largest women’s golf league in the Sonoma County. Another strong option is the Industrial League growing to the largest field yet to date in 22’.

“Players from all walks of life come together Monday afternoons for a competitive, fun golf environment.”

Other programs setting the golf club apart are its work with junior golf and hosting of charitable events. Promoting the game and making it accessible to youth is a point of emphasis at Windsor, according to Reddy.

“We all feel very strongly about junior golf. We’re sort of fostering the kids when they’re young and showing them a sport they can play the rest of their life.”

As for charitable events, Windsor Golf Club frequently holds fundraisers for nonprofit organizations, schools and other industries. Recent examples include the Analy High School Boosters, Sonoma County Alliance and the Prune Packers Baseball team. “We host a lot of events like fundraising for charitable organizations or schools. That’s another big aspect of what we offer” says Reddy.

Finally, Reddy says the club’s full-service restaurant offers the perfect setting to get delicious meals and share a beverage after playing while experiencing a beautiful view looking out over the 10th hole from the patio.
