Miyoko Schinner, ousted a year ago from the Miyoko’s Creamery company she founded, and her former Petaluma-based creamery have dropped their legal claims against each other and released a joint statement applauding Schinner as a pioneer in their industry and for her “creativity, hard work and integrity.”

Schinner, a Nicasio resident, was removed as CEO in June of 2022 and in early 2023 the creamery sued its founder for allegedly stealing trade secrets and confidential information. Schinner countersued in March, charging gender discrimination, wrongful termination and retaliation.

But on May 18, a joint Instagram statement found the two parties withdrawing their legal claims and “wish(ing) each other well as they go their separate ways.”

“Miyoko Schinner appreciates the dedicated team of people at Miyoko’s Creamery and their commitment to continuing her legacy through sustained and continued excellence in manufacturing, developing and selling vegan creamery products,” read the statement.

Miyoko, a native to Japan who grew up in Mill Valley, opened Miyoko’s Creamery, a dairy-free cheese company, in Petaluma in 2014.
