North Bay music lovers are in for a treat this weekend, as the Country Summer music festival whips out its guitars Friday through Sunday at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.
Headlining Friday’s lineup is Lynyrd Skynyrd, the southern rockers known for such classic-rock staples as “Free Bird,” “Gimme Three Steps” and “Sweet Home Alabama.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted band has been active for more than 50 years and has 14 studio albums to their credit. “Tuesday’s Gone,” “They Call Me the Breeze” and “That Smell” are among several songs that enjoyed extensive airplay in the 1970s. Gates open at noon and Skynyrd’s 8:15 p.m. set will be preceded, beginning at 1 p.m., by Josh Gracin, Tenille Townes, Frankie Ballard and Matt Stell.
On Saturday, June 17, Multi-award-winning singer Eric Church headlines the 8:15 p.m. set, with openers beginning at 1 p.m. featuring Kassi Ashton, Logan Mize, Caylee Mammack and the Cadillac Three.
Closing out the three-day festival on June 18 is the Brothers Osborne, Grammy winners as Best Country Duo/Group Performance at the annual music-industry awards ceremony earlier this year. The brothers’ 6:30 p.m. headlining show will be preceded at 1 p.m. by Ashland Craft, followed by sets by Tyler Farr and Lee Brice.
The festival will feature more than 20 performers on two stages throughout the weekend. Country Summer is a collaboration between Amaturo Sonoma Media Group—owner of country radio station Froggy 92.9 FM—and Impact Entertainment.
