“Whenever I can help a business owner make a meaningful connection or find a solution to a problem, I feel like I’ve done my job.”—Joanne Webster, president and CEO.

Over the past year, the San Rafael Chamber of Commerce continued its praise worthy reputation by enhancing the local economy and sustaining strong community roots. In 2018, the Chamber focused on success in workforce housing, transportation, business retention and attraction, local measures and state politics. Leading the charge since 2014 is President and CEO Joanne Webster. She says the success of the organization is attributed to the skills, passion and energy of its volunteer members who create indispensable experiences.

The Chamber of Commerce is a member-based business advocacy organization that diligently works to support the local economy. Webster explains that the Chamber team greatly appreciates the hard work of local businesses and makes itself readily available to do what it can to meet their needs. Whether it’s providing referrals, offering tips or making introductions, the Chamber takes pride in being a valuable and inclusive resource that focuses on making businesses feel like they are part of the community.

Webster praises her team for being dedicated, talented and passionate, and for putting the support of its members at the forefront. Webster reveres the Chamber of Commerce for its ability to listen to the community, take action and be vocal on issues that matter to the Chamber’s members, such as sustaining a healthy community and spurring business growth.

Some of the Chamber’s recent achievements include the revitalization of the Government Affairs program, ramping up advocacy efforts and enhancing strategic partnerships, which led to the first annual Marin community job fair. The event was exceptionally successful and helped connect more than 300 job seekers with employers. Events and programs like the job fair make Webster proud to be at the helm of the Chamber of Commerce. “I really enjoy helping businesses. Whenever I can help a business owner make a meaningful connection or find a solution to a problem or save money or be heard, I feel like I’ve done my job.”

In the next year, Webster is looking forward to the exciting projects the Chamber’s members present, and working to ensure they’re given all the necessary tools and support they need to be successful.  If the past years are any indication, another promising year of success is inevitable. The Chamber is ready to embrace business leaders from diverse sectors, and this year’s calendar is full of events that will serve the community’s businesses in different ways to ensure economic vitality. With the strong mindset of making things happen, the Chamber is prepared to go above and beyond in order to continue its legacy of leadership and support its community.
