The County of Sonoma and the City of Santa Rosa want to remind evacuees that while they are understandably eager to get back to their homes and properties, the Glass Fire is still active, and the public must remain out of evacuation order zones until the orders are downgraded to warnings or lifted.
As an overview, residents can expect the following actions from county, city, and regional partners as we all work together on re-entry:

1.     CALFIRE must release the area as free from active fire;

2.     Law enforcement (Sonoma County Sheriff or the Santa Rosa Police Department) will inspect the area to make sure it’s safe for travel;

3.     Transportation and Public Works and Caltrans will ensure that roads are passable.

When residents do return to burned areas, it is important to follow protocols for re-entry provided by the city and county. That process includes information contained in a Health Order that Sonoma County Health Officer Dr. Sundari Mase signed on Sept. 29. The Health Order requires residents to use personal protective equipment in burn areas and prohibits residents from starting cleanup before receiving permission from the County of Sonoma’s Department of Health Services, Environmental Health. The Health Order is available on the SoCoEmergeency.org website.
Please do not attempt to enter restricted areas until evacuation orders are lifted. You can determine your zone and see evacuation status by entering your address on the evacuation map located at SoCoEmergency.org.
County of Sonoma residents can visit SoCoEmergency.org, and follow the county Facebook and Twitter, to stay up-to-date with all information regarding re-entry and recovery in the unincorporated county.
