On October 29, 2020, Wildcrafted wines announced its name change from TravelFood Curated Wines. Wildcrafted Wines will continue Travelfood’s tradition of representing some of California wine country’s top winemakers and their latest projects. They celebrated the name change with a virtual wine and chocolate pairing.

The online event was an intimate affair featuring a Chardonnay from Gallegos Wines and a Syrah from Topel Winery. Winemakers from both wineries were in attendance along with Robert “Buttercup” Nieto, owner of Fleur Sauvage Chocolates.

Each winemaker provided background about the winery, growing and winemaking practices, and production of these small-lot wines, as well as discussed flavor profiles and answered questions. The wines were then expertly paired with handmade artisan chocolate truffles created by Chef Buttercup, as he explained how he got his beloved nickname and his journey as a pastry chef working for Bouchon Bistro & Bakery in Napa, Kendall Jackson Wines in Santa Rosa, CA and competing around the world for top honors in various pastry competitions.

The biggest surprise of this engaging evening was the white chocolate lemon truffle paired with the Chardonnay. One doesn’t normally associate white wine with chocolate pairing, but this particular combination was absolutely heavenly. Participants asked rousing questions and following the event, raved about it! Several guests requested their own private tasting to share with their family and friends during the holidays.
