Ghilotti Bros., Inc. has grown from a small business founded by Italian immigrant James Ghilotti in 1914, to a multimillion-dollar company, yet still remains true to its founder’s philosophy. This construction company has worked on numerous projects that make roads safer and reduced commute times for drivers. Advances in technology have made almost all business sectors more efficient and construction is no exception. “Advances in technology continue to dominate the changing landscape in construction,” says Ghilotti. Ghilotti Bros., Inc. supervision is now completely connected in the field through the use of iPads that enable supervisors to compile and submit electronic timecards. The use of iPads in the field also allows their team to review site plans with PlanGrid, and these are just a few of the way that they are using technology. However, the biggest tech investment they have made recently is in DroneDeploy, as they use aerial surveillance for verification of existing topography as well as numerous other applications. This type of technology helps save time, improve communication, and reduce cost by using aerial and ground data to perform surveys, conduct inspections, and document job sites helping with in-depth analysis, completing projects on time and safely.
