The MarinHealth Foundation raised over $1.1 million for its Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (MICS) program at its annual fundraising gala last month.

Proceeds from the April 22 event at the Peacock Gap Golf Club in San Rafael will help the program acquire “life-saving equipment for UCSF cardiac surgeon partners, address increased patient needs, and assist high-risk patients who would otherwise be directed elsewhere for treatment,” according to an announcement from MarinHealth.

Liz Kolcun, MarinHealth Foundation’s president and chief development officer, said bolstering the MICS program will help strengthen the Marin hospital district’s alliance with UCSF Health to “provide the best possible care” in Marin.

“We’re very grateful to everyone for helping us to exceed financial expectations including sponsors of the event, our Board of Directors, Gala Chair, Gala Committee, and long-time supporters of MarinHealth,” said Kolcun.

Among MarinHealth heart and vascular services are:

  • Education and prevention
  • State-of-the-art testing and diagnostics
  • Minimally invasive coronary, valve, and electrophysiology (heart rhythm) procedures
  • Heart surgery
  • Cardiac rehabilitation

The MICS program is part of MarinHealth’s Haynes Cardiovascular Institute, founded in 2009 by long-time donors Bill and Reta Haynes. Visit mymarinhealth.org/foundation.
