Is the line too long at the In-N-Out on County Center Drive? Don’t worry, just 4 miles south is a shiny new drive-thru. On July 13, Santa Rosa welcomed a new In-N-Out at 2532 Santa Rosa Ave. It’s the burger chain’s fifth location in Sonoma County; plans for the new franchise have been in the works since 2018, according to city documents.

New Santa Rosa In-N-Out location may reduce the mass influx of people at both the Rohnert Park and the other Santa Rosa locations.

The Santa Rosa Planning Commission initiated impact studies and approved plans for the restaurant in 2020. The opening of the eatery has raised concerns over whether there will be an increase in traffic along Santa Rosa Avenue, one of the city’s busiest roads. According to a traffic study commissioned by the city, an average of 3,012 trips to the In-N-Out are expected per day with 224 trips in the peak hour.

According to a press release about the opening, Jacob Wilhite, an 11-year veteran of In-N-Out, is set to manage the new location. The announcement stated that the restaurant will employ approximately 80 In-N-Out “burger associates” with a starting wage of $20 per hour.

The In-N-Out will have the capacity to seat 74 guests indoors, with outdoor seating for about 64 guests. The drive-thru line will be one lane and the new location will share the parking lot with McDonald’s. The drive-thru can accommodate up to 30 cars. The location will have two entrances, one on Santa Rosa Avenue and the other off Yolanda Avenue.
